Aurora Plasma Design

After purchasing an entry level museum store quality plasma ball I wasn't impressed with the quality, but for $25 I wasn't expecting much. Where do you find that balance between a science museum and retail? And the winner goes to Aurora. In our house it serves multiple roles, hallway light, science experiment, and art object. The quality of the materials really sets its self apart from the mass. The feel of the hand blown glass has an interesting tactile feel (not mass produced). It's the imperfections that contribute to the quality. We got the 12" in and it's sizable. In fact looking at it I initially thought they sent me the bigger version. Let's just say it has a presence. The glow and flow of the beams is quite mezmorizing. I like the ability to increase or decrease power and adaptability to have controls in the front or rear (the underside power cord allows this). And lastly, the packaging was beyond belief...let's just say overkill, but safe. If you this is within your budget and there's a use case I think it's well worth the money spent. In short it's beautiful and we love it!

The plasma wand is fun to play with and a great tool for demontrations. I always used a fluoresent tube for demonstrations but the plasma wand gives a much nicer result.

Recently bought a Phoenix Jr. and a Genesis Jr. as my first APD globes, and I am absolutely amazed.

The Phoenix rising is a wonderful display of fiery orange and ghostly pale white tendrils. At lower power the orange tips flare out like miniature fireworks, sometimes changing to a flickering display of deep red. The colors In real life are a bit different than on camera, a really unique white i've never seen before, and the tips are more of a pure copper-orange than the reddish on camera, which looks absolutely stunning.
These Jr globes fit perfectly on my shelf next to my other lights, and look incredible. Can't wait to expand my collection!

I was so amazed by these two globes, I bought a big promethean fire and a Tyrian Jr! So excited to see what they look like.

Works beautifully with my Genesis museum series globe but it has to get pretty close to my Emerald Fury Jr (been a few globe to wand contact situations with the smaller globe). Definitely an attention grabber, going to have to get another wand, or two, to prevent tiny human meltdown situations. It’s fun to see a new generation get into plasma art, I still remember my first encounter with a plasma globe at Radio Shack back in the 90s. Can’t wait to see what Aurora dazzles us with next!

I have bought many globes from this company. Their products are simply the highest quality, and best designed out there! (The mixture of inert gases - Awesome color combos, their prototype designs are freakin’ brilliant design).

For a truly unique experience you must order one of these Globes. The Tesla Edition, Promethean Fire, is absolutely worth every cent you spend on it. We watch it up two for 5 hours a day and feel like we're on our own museum. What a cool scientific application.

I Collect and have many plasma lights. This ones are really ONE OF A KIND, prototypes ! It feels great to have something that only few people on this planet can enjoy! Quality is great It came with matching base - it allows to position it in many ways. It is a piece of modern art .I do not know why but when "off" it instantly reminds me of obelisk from "Space Odyssey"- dark gunmetal mirror -beautiful on its own. How it looks on-you can see on videos. WOW!!! Wesss :-)

Absolutely incredible display! My first Aurora display was the Promethean Fire, and I have been very happy with its performance. This is my second globe, and the difference between the two series is immediate and striking.

The clarity of the plasma discharge in the example I received is breathtaking- the glass envelope containing the gasses virtually disappears in a darkened room, the reflections of the glass sphere the only significant testimony to its boundaries. The colors are vibrant and the contrasts are dramatic.

The Genesis series is aptly named- the plasma tendrils follow a well defined life cycle, each beginning as an energetic sharp bright white- blue pencil thin line, twisting upon itself in rapid undulating twists, then branching and green as the stream nears the globe walls, terminating in short pink/orange stumps and embers as the branches meet the glass. These thin bright blue tendrils rise and evolve, becoming a soft lime green as they drift upward, softening slightly before combining with other discharges or gently winking out as they reach the upward most point of travel. An absolutely fascinating display that photographs and video simply find impossible to convey.

Now being a seasoned client with a few globes from Aurora, a different series Globe caught my eye and didn't let go. Already an appreciative owner of the Promethean Fire series (each is wonderfully different, as the Globes log hours sparking up the atmosphere), I found a taste for what I had initially opted out of in the Genesis Series.

Only ever having viewed the Promethean Fire series in person, the Genesis series has striking qualities which I clearly overlooked in my initial quest and research. While the Promethean Fire will have a globe which has a dreamy bluish fog to contrast the sweeping wisps of green-white tendrils, the Genesis Globe is sparkling clear. This produces a saturated and vivid show of activity, as the defined green tendrils and red/orange tips seem fluoresce and look surreal.

Devoted to the Promethean Fire Globes at first, this was but a start on a now expanding list of my love for these 15 inch spheres sitting upright on a finely crafted wooden base which is as much part of the overall display as the globe itself: understand that without the time, thought, creativity which went into a base which doesn't detract from the globe, yet only adds elegance, and a 15 inch globe would certainly look "less than" if simply a solution was put under it without thought to the overall appearance.

Another win for the folks at Aurora... Steve, Jerry, and all - keep up the imaginative work!

Museum quality at home. Many tendrils, not too fast. Extreme when interacting. At low power in the dark produces flame effect with diffused tendrils. Purple and red produce nice warm effect. Great for mediation or as a showpiece for friends. Only really works at night, in a basement or with blackout curtains. Looking at a second one soon.

So glad I put a search into Google instead of just buying some generic plasma globe from elsewhere, the Jr. is incredible, have lived every moment with it so far, look forward to years of enjoyment ahead.

While I have enjoyed & love all the Aurora Plasma globes that I have purchased in the past: Tyrian Purple, Rising Phoenix, Genesis & Emerald Fury, I can without a doubt say that Promethean Fire is their best globe yet! I thought it might take a little more breaking in but right out of the box it has those thicker slower looping greenish tendrils reminiscent of some of those vintage 80’s Bill Parker plasma globes only bigger, nicer & brand new! All of Aurora’s Plasma globes offer something different, but Promethean Fire is a definite “home run” and I thank the folks at Aurora Plasma Design for bringing it to market & highly recommend it!
